While putting together the 2025 spring edition of “The Caboose” which focused on young people from, or connected to Cumberland Township who had fought and/or been killed in the Second World War. We very rapidly reached the capacity of our publication with so many stories left untold. With nearly all of our Second World War and Korean War veterans now gone and patriotism falling out of fashion across the Country, it is more important now than ever before to remind people of the price that has been paid to give us this free, peaceful and prosperous Nation that we enjoy.
This new feature of our website is intended to be a repository for all of the stories from or related to Cumberland Township that will preserve both the memories and stories of those who served in Canada’s wars (and peacekeeping deployments) but stories from the home front as well.
You are invited to share the stories that you know. Everything is welcome from long, heroic biographies to short, personal anecdotes.
Please send your stories to us at historicalcumberland@gmail.com .
