Beginning in 1986 a small group of very forward thinkers in the Cumberland Township Historical Society came up with a brilliant idea. They went out into the community using tape recorders (the very latest in technology at that time) and they interviewed “old folks” from throughout Cumberland Township on a wide variety of subjects. Almost four decades later these recordings on a wide variety of subjects provide a priceless first person account of life here in years gone by. In some cases it is a parent or grandparents story being related but still a good second hand account.
We are pleased and proud to be able to share these recordings with you for the first time. A special thanks to our Webmaster, Christine Boyer for her help in making this happen.
Enjoy!
